Completed solo in December 2019, this overland trip took a total of 13 days. I bought two one way flight tickets, namely Singapore – Kunming and Hanoi – Singapore and the route was planned with an aim to get to Hanoi by 24 December 2019 in time for my flight back home to Singapore.

Centered around two areas of interest that appealed to me, the Yuanyang Rice Terraces in Yunnan Province, China and Ha Giang Province in Vietnam, this journey would also be my first into Vietnam. 

Accomodation arrangements were made and paid for before going on the trip, on CTrip platform for my stay in China and Booking.com for my stay in Vietnam. I also made bookings for a multi-day tour to explore Ha Giang Province. Apart from the train from Kunming, China to Jianshui, China which can be pre-booked on CTrip, the rest of the transportations were settled at each departure point on the day itself. The challenge of this trip was to get from point to point, on time without delays and according to plan.
